Dr Beatriz Álvarez de Sierra García is a musculoskeletal radiologist with extensive experience in advanced MRI, CT, ultrasound and image-guided intervention. Since February 2026, she has served as Head of the Musculoskeletal Division at HT Médica, where she leads the development of advanced musculoskeletal imaging, clinical innovation and research.
Her current work has a strong focus on emerging high-end imaging technologies, particularly ultra-high-field 5-T MRI and photon-counting CT (PCCT), exploring their potential for high-resolution morphological, spectral and quantitative assessment of bone, joints, cartilage, muscle, tendons, peripheral nerves and bone marrow.
Before joining HT Médica, she worked for eight years at Clínica Universidad de Navarra in Madrid, following previous appointments at Hospital Universitario Fundación Jiménez Díaz and Hospital Universitario Rey Juan Carlos.
She holds a PhD in Applied Medicine and Biomedicine, Cum Laude, from Universidad de Navarra, with research focused on quantitative musculoskeletal imaging and ultrasound elastography. Her scientific interests also include sports imaging, muscle quality and sarcopenia, bone marrow imaging, quantitative biomarkers and minimally invasive image-guided procedures.
Dr Álvarez de Sierra is Treasurer of the Spanish Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (SERME) and is actively involved in national and international scientific and educational activities in musculoskeletal radiology.
As Co-Director of BAIS, she will also contribute a dedicated session on advanced musculoskeletal imaging, addressing how new-generation technologies such as photon-counting CT and ultra-high-field MRI are expanding anatomical detail, tissue characterization and quantitative assessment in MSK imaging.
