Dr. Ignacio Rossi is a radiologist based in Argentina with clinical expertise in musculoskeletal and sports imaging. He currently serves as Medical Director of Centro Rossi in Buenos Aires, where he combines clinical practice, medical leadership, and participation in international scientific and educational activities.
His work focuses on the use of advanced imaging techniques to support accurate diagnosis, guide treatment decisions, and optimize clinical outcomes for both professional and amateur athletes.
Dr. Rossi is particularly interested in the role of imaging in injury prevention, performance evaluation, and return-to-play assessment, integrating radiological findings with the specific clinical and functional demands of the athlete.
He also has particular experience as a consultant radiologist for elite football clubs, including River Plate, giving him a highly practical perspective on imaging-based decision-making in professional football and high-performance sport.
His scientific activity includes work on quantitative imaging in sports medicine. He is a co-author of a review published in Radiology on emerging quantitative imaging techniques in sports medicine, together with researchers from Boston University, Massachusetts General Hospital, HT Médica and other international institutions.
In 2026, he participated as faculty in the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) webinar “Imaging of the Professional Athlete”, where he addressed the role of imaging in pre-signing evaluations of professional footballers and how specific imaging findings can influence transfer decisions, contracts, long-term planning and player management.
At BAIS 2026, Dr. Rossi will contribute to three sessions focused on professional football: “The Role of the Radiologist in the Pre-Contract Medical Examination of the Professional Footballer”, “Injuries in Professional Footballers: Our Experience in Argentine Football”, and “The Day After: Injuries and Long-Term Consequences in Professional Footballers After Retirement”. His participation will provide an imaging perspective across almost the entire professional football career pathway, from signing decisions to long-term health after retirement.
