Dr. José Miguel Catalán Larracoechea is a specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, trained through the Spanish residency programme at Hospital Universitario Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona, with 20 years of professional experience.
His clinical activity is particularly focused on sports traumatology, knee surgery, regenerative medicine and ultrasound-guided interventions, with special expertise in advanced orthobiologic therapies such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), intraosseous PRP and subchondral bone marrow concentrate (BMC).
He is the founder and Medical Director of Regynere, a specialised clinic in Palma de Mallorca where approximately 1,000 regenerative procedures are performed each year.
He also has expertise in integrating biological therapies with extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) and high-intensity laser therapy (HILT) for the treatment of musculoskeletal and sports-related disorders.
Dr. Catalán is actively involved in scientific and educational activities as a speaker and panelist at national and international congresses on orthobiology and regenerative medicine, including TOBI (The Orthobiologic Institute). He is the author of scientific publications indexed in PubMed and participates in research projects focused on regenerative medicine and knee pathology.
His training also includes healthcare management, with a Master’s Degree in Hospital Management and Administration and an MBA.
At BAIS 2026, Dr. Catalán will participate in the session “Knee Preservation”, focused on cartilage, mechanical alignment and biological treatments, bringing his particular expertise in sports traumatology, orthobiology and regenerative medicine.
