Dr Óscar Casado Verdugo is a radiologist specialising in musculoskeletal imaging and advanced MRI applications in the musculoskeletal system. He is Head of the Musculoskeletal Section within the MRI Department at Galdakao-Usansolo Hospital · Osatek, in the Basque Country. He also works as a musculoskeletal radiologist for HT Médica, providing specialist MRI expertise at Hospital Santa Clotilde in Santander.
He has extensive experience in MRI and musculoskeletal imaging, combined with a strong commitment to medical education. He has been invited to speak at national and international courses and scientific meetings organised by institutions including the Spanish Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (SERME), the Spanish Society of Medical Radiology (SERAM), the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) and the International Skeletal Society (ISS).
Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards and distinctions for his scientific and educational work, including seven recognitions from the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), as well as awards at other major national and international radiology meetings.
At BAIS 2026, he will present “Ultra-Short TE and Zero Echo Time (UTE/ZTE) in Musculoskeletal Imaging”, exploring CT-like MRI using UTE and ZTE techniques for the assessment of cortical bone, entheses and tendons, and their role in athlete imaging.
